For all the details, visit our website https://www.atheaterforchildren.com Our Vision A Theater For Children was founded in 2016 to serve the residents of Sonoma County. We offer low-cost performances for young audiences and offer free opportunities for children to perform. We recognize that the theater arts provide children with life-changing opportunities to develop character and confidence, promote cooperation among multiple generations and build a diverse and vibrant community of individuals who value creativity and learning. Our Programs Participation in the magic of theater, whether behind the scenes or in front of an audience, sparks imagination and ingenuity and helps to build community and character. A Theater For Children provides quality affordable live entertainment to the community in our mainstage shows. Each year we produce three main stage productions. Our shows include well-loved interpretations of classic children’s literature, as well as contemporary stories and new works. Some of our shows: McQuadle: A Dragon's Tale Cinderella, Cinderella, a participation play for children Dorothy & The Wizard of Oz, another child participation play. Disney's 101 Dalmatians KIDS Alex & The Magic Staff, by local artists Bridget Palmer and Peter B. Allen. For the 2019-2020 Season, we received a Cultural Arts Grant from Creative Sonoma to support our theme of "Children Embracing Nature Through Theater Arts." This grant supported our efforts to produce Disney's Lion King KIDS in November 2019. The production included the theme of the balance of nature and incorporated audience participation with an African animal headband arts project for children and the inclusion of audience voices and movement. Our March 2020 production, the California premiere of "Save Our Planet", also contained a nature preservation theme, and children were invited to participate by rapping along with the performers. Our two school site-specific versions of Disney's Lion King KIDS, at Bellevue and Kid Street Charter schools, including 60-100 children in each production. For a time, both projects had to be canceled because of the pandemic, but fortunately the Kid Street Lion King KIDS did take place in 2023. We dedicated our 2020-2021 Season to the theme of "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child." Although the Pandemic shutdown curtailed many of our plans, we were able to offer a Youth Playwriting Competition, a Playwriting Workshop, and a Zoom production of Alex & The Magic Staff in 2020. On April 24th, 2021, we collaborated with the Children's Museum of Sonoma County to create a fun day-long educational and entertaining event honoring Earth Day! Most recently, we reprised McQuadle: A Dragon's Tale, Disney's Lion King KIDS, Disney's Moana JR, and Disney's Beauty & the Beast JR. In Spring 2024, we're producing Witchs v. Princesses and Disney's A Little Mermaid JR. Who We Are Our organization is run by Executive Director, Bridget Palmer, President, Jim Plaisted, and Treasurer, Beverly Esperon. Our events are created and produced by volunteers from the Sonoma County community. ATFC is a Fiscally Sponsored Project of Inquiring Systems INC. (ISI), 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, in Santa Rosa, CA.

Alchemia supports over 100 artists by offering studio space, exhibition space and mentoring from professional artists in dance, performance, and the visual arts. Located in Sonoma and Marin counties, Alchemia operates a studio/performance space in NW Santa Rosa and retail galleries at 111 Kentucky Street in downtown Petaluma and 1123 Grant Avenue in downtown Novato.

Our gallery is located just off the plaza in Sonoma. Our members are professional artists working in a variety of media. We are always excepting applications, and screen in new members three times a year. In 2017 we celebrated our 40th year of continuous operation, making us one of the oldest cooperative art galleries in the state! We have new shows monthly with receptions usually on the first Friday or Saturday of the month.

Artstart Adult Arts Education, Art Gallery, Creative Design, Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Nonprofit, Visual Arts, Youth Arts Education Artstart is an award-winning, 501(c)3 non-profit educational arts organization serving all of Sonoma County since 1999. Our mission is to provide mentoring and stimulating arts work experience for Sonoma County youth, while creating publicly and privately commissioned art for our community. WE PROVIDE TRAINING We hire young people ages 14-20 to apprentice under the mentorship of professional artists. WE CREATE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE ART Artstart works with public entities as well as private clients to make beautiful art ranging from very large pieces of public art to small works, such as painted or mosaic furniture, and works on canvas. WE COLLABORATE By working with other Sonoma County Arts organizations we expand our program and support community endeavors. A selection of past partner organizations include: Community Action Partnership (CAP), The Santa Rosa Downtown Arts District, Artquest, Museums of Sonoma County, KRCB, Sonoma County Library, The Imaginists, SOFA Arts District, The Rural Cemetery Historical Society, and the City of Santa Rosa and Department of Parks and Recreation.

Becoming Independent - Professional Art Program Art Gallery, Business, Education, Fine Crafts, Literature/Poetry, Nonprofit, Nonprofit Services, Visual Arts Becoming Independent (BI) helps people with developmental disabilities live meaningful and productive lives. At BI, we realize that creative expression is an integral part of the human experience. The BI Professional Art Program fulfills this commitment to exploring and developing personal creativity by providing artists with inspiration, instruction, encouragement, and opportunities for exhibitions and sales.

We focus on offering our artists the opportunity to explore multiple mediums for their creative growth. Our classes also include community trips to museums, galleries, and special events to assist in further enrichment of the arts.

In October of 2016 we acquired a studio/gallery space at Fulton Crossing Artist Studios. We are thrilled for this opportunity for our artists to be able to work side by side with other local artists. BI’s professional artists, as well as other individuals active in BI's Innovative Education program, will be able to use this as a community access spot to expand their creative passions. Fulton Crossing affords BI a space for art sales, special events, and is at the center of Sonoma County’s vibrant art culture.

Boys & Girls Club Of Sonoma Valley Nonprofit Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley currently serves over 2,000 Members at 6 Clubs in the valley; Dunbar, Altimira, Flowery, Maxwell Clubhouse, Maxwell Village Teen Club, and Sassarini. We open our doors every day to achieve our mission to provide positive opportunities for youth and teens to learn, succeed and discover their full potential. We achieve our mission by providing all our members with evidence-based programs focused on establishing academic success, healthy lifestyles, and good character in the youth we serve. We provide these programs through our committed and passionate team of youth-development professionals and dedicated board and community supporters. Many youth in Sonoma Valley are facing significant challenges:

77% of 11^th grade students and 63% of 9th graders report to consume alcohol on a regular basis.
Over 59% (2,644 kids) of Sonoma Valley children are considered economically disadvantaged – these students qualify for free/reduced meal programs and report being hungry.
75% of Sonoma Valley 3^rd grade English Language Learners are reading significantly under grade level making them 4-times less likely to graduate from high school on time. (ELL Students represent 33% of total enrollment in the district)
Only 53% of Sonoma Valley 5^th graders meet Federal standards for aerobic capacity

These are not obstacles our kids or families should have to face alone. This is why we provide a safe, positive environment for our children where they can develop supportive relationships, have meaningful opportunities for participation, and receive recognition for meeting high expectations. Youth need the resources and tools to achieve academic success, choose healthy lifestyles, and demonstrate good character. Boys & Girls Clubs provide all of this and more for over 2,000 kids in Sonoma Valley every year.

California Poets In The Schools Adult Arts Education, Education, Kids/Family, Literature/Poetry, Nonprofit, Nonprofit Services, Youth Arts Education California Poets in the Schools (CalPoets) empowers students of all ages throughout California to express their creativity, imagination, and intellectual curiosity through writing, performing and publishing their own poetry. We train and coordinate a multicultural network of published poets, who bring their passion and craft to public and private schools, juvenile halls, hospitals, libraries and other community settings. The Sonoma County branch of California Poets in the schools carries out the CalPoets' mission within our county.

California Redwood Chorale Music, Nonprofit, Performing Arts California Redwood Chorale was founded in 2006 with the mission of offering excellence and joy to our audience and our singers. Our repertoire ranges from classics to contemporary. The chorale has also been dedicated to creating “Music Diplomacy” by traveling to other countries where we share our music and hearts performing Friendship Concerts with local choirs. Cazadero Music Camp Creative Sonoma Grantee, Education, Holidays Shop Local, Kids/Family, Music, Nonprofit, Sports/Outdoors, Youth Arts Education Cazadero Music Camp brings the love of music and learning to youth. We provide a nurturing, inspirational environment for young musicians ages 9-18. For more than 65 years, Cazadero has offered a dynamic music education program that strikes a thoughtful balance between in-depth music education and carefree summer camp fun. Caz is set on 33 acres near the Russian River in Sonoma County where young musicians learn together under a canopy of spectacular redwood trees. Our vision is to bring the transformative Caz experience to as many youth as possible. Combining music and nature in a truly unique setting, young musicians develop a love of music which lasts a lifetime. Our impact is evident in the inspired performances that close each session and the heartfelt evaluations of the young musicians themselves. Our Programs

Cazadero inspires over 1,400 youth during a typical year through two complementary music programs, Summer Music Camp, and JumpStart in Music. Our Summer Music Camp brings together a diverse and talented student body from across the Bay Area and beyond. Campers work closely with skilled Conductors, talented Music Faculty, and a devoted Camp Staff. They discover their love of music, develop their musicianship, gain confidence in their playing, and make lasting friendships. Learn more. JumpStart in Music is a low-cost, high-impact weekend version of our Summer Music Camp for school and school district music programs. JumpStart brings Sonoma County and Bay Area public school students, their music teachers and high school mentors together for a three day, condensed immersion program which produces some remarkable results.

Chalk Hill Artist Residency is a unique opportunity for artists across mediums to work and stay at the beautiful Warnecke Ranch and Vineyard.

The program is located in Sonoma County, an hour and a half north of San Francisco. Artists from a diverse range of abilities and geographical locations are able to find the space and time needed to pursue creative work. Chalk Hill Artist Residency offers the use of the artist house, studio space, and access to the ranch property. The property's oak woodlands, hiking trails, vineyards, and private access to the Russian River are sources of inspiration for residents

Founded in 2010, Chalk Hill Residency is inspired by the vision of the late John Carl Warnecke, internationally renowned architect (1919-2010). In 1983, he laid out plans for an art colony on his 280-acre property near the town of Healdsburg, bordering the Russian River. He established a 501c3 non-profit and began a master plan for the property to fulfill his vision: that artists could live and work together in what he deemed as the most beautiful place in the world.

Our community partnerships allow us to work closely with organizations that support artists with disabilities to participate in studio days at the residency. Studio days bring together our current artist in residence and artists with disabilities to spend an afternoon in the studio together. This creates a space where artists across a spectrum of ability are able to create authentic human connection through art, celebrate individual ways of artistic expression, and foster creativity. Since 2010, the studio program has proven to be nationally recognized and has been enthusiastically received by participants.

Chalkboard Players Education, Kids/Family, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, School Child Parent Institute’s Chalkboard Players provide quality creative arts experiences for children and youth in Sonoma County. In addition to providing their expertise in a variety of art forms, Chalkboard Players are trained in the lasting impacts of childhood and community trauma, the challenges faced by many young people, and techniques and tools for creating a safe, inclusive environment while engaging students in the processes of discovery, creation, and collaboration. We design creative arts residencies to address the needs – especially those emerging from childhood or community trauma – of students and school or group environments. We build curricula around the goals of each site, with the flexibility to integrate specific topics, art forms, class subjects, and/or common core standards. Group sizes are flexible, as our teaching artists are available individually, or in teams of two to three. Chalkboard Players artists residencies: • help provide tools to address the impacts of trauma, fear, and stress on our mind and bodies • help grow students’ social and emotional skills, while boosting self-esteem and positive self-expression • deepen students’ understanding of themselves and each other • demonstrate fun, simple activities that students and staff can adapt and integrate in the classroom or at home.

Child Parent Institute Education, Kids/Family, Music, Nonprofit, Nonprofit Services, Performing Arts, School, Special Events, Theatre, Visual Arts Child Parent Institute’s Creative Arts programs provide high quality arts experiences for underserved children, youth, and families throughout Sonoma County. Our Creative Arts programs include an array of therapeutic, expressive, educational, and recreational activities and events in the areas of visual arts, theatre, music, movement, and more. These programs and activities are designed to strengthen social and emotional skills, boost self-esteem, and provide critical tools that yield lifelong benefits for participants. The Creative Arts team provides after-school groups, summer camps, in-school performances and workshops, family engagement activities, and community outreach and education. Many of our participants have been impacted by challenging experiences early in life, including toxic stress, special needs, and trauma. CPI’s Creative Arts team, in addition to contributing their professional artistic skills and expertise, are trained in trauma-informed care, strengths-based practice, and building protective factors that strengthen families and communities.

Cinnabar Theater Education, Holidays Shop Local, Nonprofit, Performing Arts, Performing Arts Membership or Season Tickets, Theatre, Youth Arts Education The mission of Cinnabar Theater is to present a wide range of theatrical, musical and operatic works that are relevant to contemporary life and challenging to audiences and artists alike. To achieve our mission, we create an environment that fosters the experimentation and exploration needed to produce high-quality performances, which can be enjoyed for their technique and artistry as well as for their connection to life and living. Additionally, we are committed to training young people in the performing arts so they can make lasting and meaningful connections between the arts and their daily lives. Located in a 1908 red schoolhouse on a grassy hill on the outskirts of Petaluma, Cinnabar Theater was founded in 1972 by opera singer Marvin Klebe and his wife, Jan. A former San Francisco Opera baritone, Klebe left big city life to create a small-scale performance space where creative people could collaborate and experiment. The Klebes and their four sons renovated the schoolhouse into what it is today: a performance space that provides North Bay residents and visitors a mix of plays, musicals, operas, and concerts. In 1983, we introduced our Young Repertory Theater (“Young Rep”) program. Created to counteract the ongoing decline of arts funding in public schools, Young Rep serves youth ages 4-18 from throughout Sonoma County. An ongoing program, Young Rep trains youth in the performing arts, specifically plays and musical theater. Through carefully crafted, age-appropriate curriculum, youth explore how their daily lives connect to the performing arts, and discover their own talents. Young Rep activities, which include summer camps and after-school programming, culminate into an average of five live performances, starring our Young Rep youth, annually. To ensure all youth who seek to explore the performing arts have the opportunity to participate, we offer scholarships for socioeconomically disadvantaged youth. Annually, 120 youth participate in Young Rep. In the 2016-17 season, we produced seven professional plays and musicals, two Young Rep performances, six concerts, and eight special performances, including puppetry and improvisational comedy. Over 6,000 individuals attended these performances, with 75% of our audience comprising Sonoma County residents.
